Jungle Safari in NepalIf you are in love with flora and fauna, Chitwan and Bardia National Park have the adventure you seek. It is just a few hours drive from Kathmandu or a very brief flight if you so choose to. Royal Bengal tigers, rhinos, deer, alligators ( gharials ), various species of birds and flora are just a few of the sights you can witness. Nature walks, bird watching, elephant safari or canoeing are some highlights. Your choice of accommodation can vary from tree top lodging to tents and camp fires. Amenities can be adjusted to your needs.

Chitwan National Park

The Chitwan National Park (CNP) is the first and most famous wildlife destination of Nepal. It is situated at the southern part of Kathmandu at the distance of about 170 KM. It is about 6 hrs bus ride and 15 mins. flight from capital. The total area of this park is measured as 932 sq. KM. The park includes hilly areas of the Siwalik range covered by deciduous sal forest and captured with grass, savannah and riverine vegetation. The park is made up of the flood plains of the Narayani, Rapti and Reu rivers.

In between these landscape and area any one can enjoy the different spices of endangered wildlife such as Asian one horned rhinoceros and Royal Bengal tigers, four different spices of deer, leopards, langurs, sloth bears, wild boars, rhesus monkeys, wild dogs, white stocking gaurs and many other smaller animals. Two different type of crocodiles Ghariyal and marsh mugger cavort in the river water. This park is also famous as bird watchers paradise with more than 450 different spices of regular and migrant birds including cormorants, egrets, stork geese, jingle fowl, king fishers and endangered spices such as Bengal florician, Lesser florician, Brahmin, duck, pintails, Indian pitta and parakeets.

* Village tour: This tour will take you towards the ethnic inhabitants (known as Tharu Village) of this area. Commonly they are living on combine family, their houses are like huts and look smaller from outside but they have enough space for their family from inside, Mostly houses are decorated with their traditional colorful paints on their outer wall. Women shrubs their houses daily and men can be seen taking their cattle to the nearby jungle in the morning and at day time they fish in the river for their food.

** Cultural Program: This is an entertainment of your time while you are in the park. You may feel tired from all jungle activities. One evening you can enjoy with the Tharu cultural stick dance. These community people were innocent people at the first stage and they had lack of communication with the tourists at first. They started to welcome tourists with their dance at first and these days they are doing it commercially and professionally with some of Nepali, Indian songs and dances as well.



Bardia National Park

Bardia (768 sq km) is the largest and most undisturbed wilderness area in the Terai lowlands. It consists of Sal forests and tall grasslands. It is a regenerated habitat for endangered species like the 1 horned rhinoceros, wild elephant, tigers, swap deer, black buck, Ghariyal crocodile and genetic dolphin, cobras, kraits and pythons are also found here. Endangered birds include the Bengal Florien, Lesser florican, silver eared mesia and Sarus Crane. The local people are mainly Tharus.

Three hours jeep (75 km) for Nepalgunj which is 1 hour 10 minutes by air & 531 km by road from Kathmandu .

Our Suggestion
The color of your clothes should be blended with surroundings. During the winter months from November to February, sweater and jackets are necessary in the morning and evening.
